So this year is the Big One...40th!! As most of you know, it's been a bit of a challenging year but with the help of wonderful family and friends, I have come through it with more grace, empathy, courage, and strength.
I have been planning for a few years now to commemorate my 40th with a trip in celebration of my years of life on this earth!! To me, it's not just a celebration of myself but of the many beautiful people and experiences I've been blessed with along the way!!
If you would have asked me 20 years ago what my life would have looked like at 40...it would have been a very different picture!! I would have told you that I pictured myself a wife and a mother and surrounded by those people who I never imagined would have left my side....... my Aunt Fifi, my Pino, Uncle Bruno, my cousin Sky, my Aunt May, and my Uncle Lupe...but God had a different plan.
Instead he took me on a journey which changed my life, changed me forever, one in which I experienced joys & sorrows and learned a lot about myself and life!! It was a journey that took me 5000 miles away to London where I met some incredibly loving and caring people who became my second family, the family I built. During this time, unfortunately I lost many from the family I was born into. There were many lessons to learn and i can honestly say, I believe I was a good student.
I am proud of my accomplishments and I look back on my 39 years of life with pride and at times with regret as I know that there were many moments where I failed to be the person God expected me to be. Nonetheless, I am thankful for the failures as much as the successes as they have kept me humble and close to God, my family and my friends and on the never ending path to self discovery .
